Art Photography 1

E207

Dates: September-June

Classes:

4A & 8B

Introduction to Art Photography, or Photo 1, is a hands-on art class based on traditional black & white darkroom photography. This course is a full year (1 credit). The first half is broken down into three main units: Darkroom Intro & Photograms, Pinhole Photography, and SLR Film, Processing, & Printing. The first semester we concentrate on the Elements of Photography with special emphasis on light, composition, value and contrast.

For the second half of the year we will be working on printing techniques, personal point of view and personal expression. We will dive deeper into the Principles of Design and discuss the history of photography. Students will be able to compose, shoot, process, and print black & white photographs by the end of this course.
